eNews Update - October 2025

Dear Friends of Resilient Ready,

Wow, what a month! We've been talking about it all year but last week we were finally able to launch our passion project - the new National Social Capital + Social Infrastructure Measurement Framework!

The Framework project sprung from a unique collaboration between Resilient Ready Founder Renae Hanvin and Professor Daniel Aldrich, bringing his global research and work to Australia to contribute to disaster risk reduction.

A special shout-out to our Resilient Ready team members - Fiona, Mark, Ludmilla, Vianne and Raymund - for their dedicated and focused work on this project. And to Jake and Phoebe from Self-titled who spent hours and hours working on the final design and maps with us.

And deep thanks to the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM) team leading Disaster Risk Reduction - their systems thinking approach, led by Johanna Garnett and Miriam Lumb, helped to bring this Framework into being.

Special thanks also to the Hon Kate Thwaites who attended our Adelaide launch and shared opening remarks, and the Hon Catherine Hutchesson MP for sharing her local community stories.

We would also like to recognise Gary Pike for his participation on our Steering Group and embedding social infrastructure into his Department of Human Services grants program, and the participants on our National Advisory Group. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the Disaster Ready Fund (Round 2) funding from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

We are looking forward to sharing our new approach to disaster risk reduction with organisations and communities everywhere. If you need to look at old problems through a fresh lens, we're ready to talk. Drop us a line.

The Resilient Ready Team.
