eNews Update - February 2025

Dear Friends of Resilient Ready,

Is it February already? Seems like the year is off to a flying start for the Resilient Ready crew.

We've been busy delivering our BCR Toolkit program in the Northern Rivers region of NSW in an exciting collaboration with the NSW Reconstruction Authority.

You can learn more about that project by connecting with Resilient Ready's Renae Hanvin and Fiona Jago at one of several forthcoming information sessions. We're encouraging local business owners and operators to sign up to the program in one of the five industry-led streams.

Our Creating a Social Capital + Social Infrastructure Measurement Framework project kicks off very soon and we want you to tell us what you know about social capital and social infrastructure. Lend your voice to the solution. Don't be shy!

Have you discovered our popular 'Doing Disasters Differently' podcast yet? We celebrated our 5000th download this month! We've been busy talking to experts across the spectrum of emergency management, resilience and disaster recovery, who have been sharing their insights and experiences. We release new episodes every fortnight.

If you want to know how Resilient Ready can work with your organisation or community, reach out and drop us a line.

Solution for communities forged by fires

In the wake of the Black Summer bushfires, Resilient Ready co-designed its Business Community Resilience (BCR) Toolkit with bushfire-impacted communities. The approach proved so popular that we have further developed and expanded the Toolkit, rolling it out in communities across Australia.

We're doing business beyond disasters

Resilient Ready is working with businesses and non-profits in the Northern Rivers region in collaboration with the NSW Reconstruction Authority to deliver a simple program focused on planning for disasters, building essential business continuity capabilities and working together to overcome future challenges.

Episode #34: Sharing your lived experience with others

In this episode, Resilient Ready Founder Renae Hanvin talks Fiona Jago, a former dairy farmer and small business owner with deep roots in regional Victoria. Fiona and her husband, Mark, made a bold move to purchase and run a caravan park on Kangaroo Island, South Australia. However, the devastating 2019-2020 bushfires profoundly impacted their lives, prompting three years of rebuilding. Now, as a lived experience facilitator with Resilient Ready, Fiona travels across Australia, sharing her resilience journey and helping small business owners navigate challenges.
